Disneyland Paris closes early in winter: fewer hours, but not longer queues

270 winter days measured: queues peak at 11:30, the last hour is no longer the quiet one, and Disneyland Park fits as many rides as in August.

Disneyland Paris closes early in winter: fewer hours, but not longer queues

When Disneyland Paris closes earlier, the afternoon does not get busier: the whole day shifts earlier. On a winter weekday with a 20:00 closing, Disneyland Park reaches its peak at 11:30 and goes down from there, with no afternoon crush. What you do lose is the last hour. With a 19:00-20:00 closing, the last half hour keeps 62% of the midday wait; with a 22:00 closing, 37%. The “good hour” at the end almost disappears.

In return, queues are shorter all day. We simulated a visit using the average waits of each time slot. In Disneyland Park, a winter day closing at 20:00 fits the same 15 attractions as an August day closing at 22:00. The 10 with the longest queues add up to 190 minutes of waiting against 306, and you finish them at 17:20 instead of 19:16. In Disney Adventure World with a 19:00 closing, on the other hand, the short day does show: three attractions fewer than in August.

The earliest a park has closed is 19:00, usually because of private parties. In general, the parks close earlier in the winter months than in the summer ones.

We measured it with 4.1 million readings of wait times at 34 attractions, from January 1, 2024 to November 2, 2026. Of these, 484,013 come from 270 regular winter days: 134 in Disneyland Park and 136 in Adventure World. This article is for anyone going on a weekday in November, January or February, outside school holidays, who wants to know how to plan a day that ends early.

The data: what we measured and how

  • What we measured: the wait Disney posts, recorded every five minutes, at the 34 attractions we track in the two parks, excluding the train. From opening (or Extra Magic Time) until closing. Breakdowns and closures do not count.
  • What “regular winter” means: November, January and February, minus the French school holidays of any zone and public holidays. We already covered Christmas and Epiphany in our article on the Christmas season. In February almost everything is holidays: only the first week is left.
  • Each day’s closing time: the official one since February 27, 2026. Before that, we infer it from the attractions’ last reading. On the 493 days without an event that have both, they always match.
  • Left out: nights with a ticketed event: about 30 per park in the series. On those nights the attractions stay open for the party until 23:30, and there is no way to tell when the park closed for everyone else.
  • A warning: in winter, days with a 22:00 closing are mostly weekends (two out of three), with more people. That is why, besides minutes, we compare the shape of the day.
  • What we did not measure: the actual queue, which does not always match the posted one, or the number of people.

Data updated as of November 2, 2026.

Regular winter days, excluding event nights. Disneyland Park’s only 19:00 closing was on November 21, 2024, with 5 cm of snow. Adventure World’s 19:00 closings in 2025/26 include three days at 19:30. Adventure World was called Walt Disney Studios until March 29, 2026.

Early closings are a weekday thing. The 19:00 and 20:00 ones fall Monday to Friday, mostly in January and early February, and in November. On winter weekends, Disneyland Park closes at 21:00 or 22:00.

Adventure World used to be the one that closed earlier. Until March 2026, on seven out of ten regular winter days it closed one or two hours before Disneyland Park. Since World of Frozen opened, both parks close at the same time almost every day.

This winter, with the schedule published up to December 28, weekdays close at 21:00 until November 12 and almost always at 22:00 from the 16th. Weekends and all of December, at 22:00. The exceptions: Fridays November 13, 20 and 27 and December 4, at 20:30; December 8, 11 and 18, at 21:00 (on the 8th, only Disneyland Park); and November 17, 19 and 26, when Disneyland Park closes at 19:00 and Adventure World stays open until 22:00. On those same nights last year (Tuesdays and Thursdays) there was a ticketed event in Disneyland Park and Adventure World closed at 19:30. The January and February schedule is not in our data yet.

The day shifts earlier, it doesn’t get squeezed

Chart of Disneyland Park's average wait by half hour depending on closing time: winter days closing at 20:00 peak at 19 minutes at 11:30 and drop to 10 in the last half hour; with a 22:00 closing, a peak of 28 at 11:30 and 9 at the end; from March to October, with a 22:40-23:00 closing, a peak of 29 at 12:30

Disneyland Park. Average wait of the attractions open in each half hour. Days: 47, 32 and 393.

The peak comes at 11:30. In winter, on half the days the busiest half hour in Disneyland Park comes before 12:00. From March to October, with a 22:40-23:00 closing, on only 3% of days. Part of it may be the parade, which in 2026 sets off at 11:30 for most of the season and lowers queues right at that time. But in Adventure World, which has no parade, the same thing happens: with a 19:00 closing, the peak comes before 12:00 on 68% of days, against 38% with a 22:40-23:00 closing.

The afternoon does not get busier because there are fewer hours. This is what people tend to fear most: the same crowd, in fewer hours, queuing more. To check it, we compared days with the same morning queues (from 10:00 to 13:00) and a different closing time. In Adventure World, on days averaging 35 minutes in the morning, the wait from 15:00 to 17:00 is 28 minutes if the park closes at 19:00-20:00 and 31 if it closes at 22:00-23:00. In Disneyland Park, the same or slightly less. Everything suggests that people do not stay longer because the park is open for less time: they simply leave earlier.

Fantasyland finishes earlier. In winter, Alice’s Curious Labyrinth, Casey Jr. and Le Pays des Contes de Fées stop at around 17:00, and the rest of Fantasyland an hour before the park. Peter Pan’s Flight and It’s a small world have run until closing since April 2026.

The last hour is no longer the quiet one

In summer, the last hour is the best time of day for the attractions with the longest queues. With an early closing, that advantage shrinks a lot, and at some attractions it disappears.

Chart of the wait in the last hour before closing, as a percentage of the same attraction's 11:00-17:00 wait: with a 19:00-20:00 closing in winter, Autopia keeps 94%, Tower of Terror 87% and Orbitron 84%; with a 22:00-23:00 closing from March to October, 74%, 35% and 56%

Only attractions that run until the park closes. Regular winter with a 19:00-20:00 closing: between 46 and 87 days per attraction. March-October with a 22:00-23:00 closing: between 181 and 608 days.

Tower of Terror is the clearest case. With a 19:00-20:00 closing, it shows 37 minutes in its last hour, almost the same as at midday. With a late closing, 14. If you save it for the end of a short day, you save nothing.

In Disneyland Park, the last half hour stays at about 10 minutes. It makes no difference whether the park closes at 20:00 or at 23:00. What changes is that on a short day the rest of the day is low too, so that half hour barely beats the morning. In Adventure World, with a 19:00 closing, not even that: the last half hour averages 19 minutes, against 11 with a 21:00 closing.

It’s not about winter, it’s about closing time. From March to October, on days when Adventure World closed at 20:00, Tower of Terror also kept 74% of its wait in the last hour.

How much fits into a winter day

We simulated a visit using the average waits of each 15-minute slot: you enter at opening (or an hour earlier, with a hotel) and do the 10 attractions with the longest queues in the park, choosing at each moment the one that is lowest compared with its average. We add up the wait, the ride time, 10 minutes of walking and 45 minutes for lunch at 12:30. Once the 10 are done, you keep re-riding until closing.

Disneyland Park’s 10: Peter Pan’s Flight, Hyperspace Mountain, Autopia, Buzz Lightyear, Orbitron, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Blanche-Neige, Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean. Big Thunder Mountain and Star Tours are not included because we have no data for them in the winters with a 20:00 closing. Adventure World’s do not include Crush’s Coaster, closed until 2027, or Frozen Ever After, which has not yet been open through a winter. It is an average visit with average waits, not the best possible route: it is there to compare days.

In Disneyland Park, a winter day with a 20:00 closing goes as far as an August one. The same 15 attractions fit with two hours less in the park, because there are 116 fewer minutes of queuing. With the simplest calculation, each of the 10 once at its average wait for the day, in winter you have 404 minutes in the park without queuing, against 386 in August.

In Adventure World with a 19:00 closing, the short day does lose out. Queues do not drop as much in winter, and Crush’s Coaster and Tower of Terror weigh heavily. You finish the 10 at 18:09, with 51 minutes to spare, and 12 fit against 15. With the simple calculation, 300 minutes without queuing against 377 in August.

📱 What doesn’t change is that day’s schedule. With MagicWait Paris you can see what time each park closes and whether Tower of Terror is still at 35 minutes at 18:00 before deciding whether to wait until the end or go now.

The hotel matters more on a short day (even though it saves the same)

In minutes, the Extra Magic Time hour saves the same in winter as in summer. In the simulation, in Disneyland Park, 52 minutes of queuing with a 20:00 closing and 54 in August; in Adventure World, 31 with a 19:00 closing and 27 in August. In both cases you finish the 10 between an hour and a half and two hours earlier, and two more attractions fit.

What changes is how much that hour weighs: with a 20:00 closing it is 8.7% of your day in Disneyland Park, and with a 19:00 closing in Adventure World, 9.5%. In August, between 7.4% and 8%. Which attractions open and how the queues build up in that hour is in our Extra Magic Time analysis.

When one park closes before the other

Until March 2026, in winter it was common for Adventure World to close at 19:00 and Disneyland Park at 21:00. On those days, people crossed the plaza. With a 21:00 closing, Disneyland Park’s last hour averaged 13 minutes when Adventure World had already closed (32 days) and 10 when they closed at the same time (16 days).

This winter it flips on November 17, 19 and 26: Disneyland Park closes first, at 19:00, and Adventure World stays open until 22:00. If you go on those days, finish in Adventure World, but don’t expect such a quiet last hour: if it works like the other way round, it will have somewhat longer queues.

What else changes in winter: cold, late openings and refurbishments

The cold empties the outdoor attractions. Hour by hour, from 11:00 to 18:00 and without rain, we compared each outdoor attraction with the indoor ones in the same park at the same time. That way we don’t mistake cold for fewer people.

Disneyland Park, November to February, 11:00 to 18:00, hours without rain or snow. Temperature for each hour from our weather data.

At 12 °C or more, Orbitron’s wait is 53% longer than the indoor attractions’. Below zero, the same. Dumbo goes from 36% more to 5%. The drop is gradual, but it speeds up below 3 °C. Autopia holds on to long queues, but below zero it only ran 82% of the hours.

Outdoor attractions open late more often. Disneyland Park’s opened late on 12% of winter days, against 5% the rest of the year, and on 23% if it was freezing at opening time. Autopia, on 20% of winter days and 34% with frost. In Adventure World, Cars ROAD TRIP opened late on 37% of winter days. Stoppages during the day, on the other hand, are almost the same as the rest of the year: 0.46 per 10 hours in winter against 0.44.

Winter is refurbishment season. Peter Pan’s Flight was closed on 18.5% of days from November to February (all of February 2024 and 2025), against 8% the rest of the year. It’s a small world and Les Voyages de Pinocchio have not closed a single day from March to October since 2024, and in each of the last two winters, about 12. When a big one closes, the others in its park don’t clearly go up: across the 13 long closures measured, between 5.5 minutes less and 2.7 more than normal. This winter Pinocchio closes from November 2 to 13 and Phantom Manor from the 16th to the 27th, and Disneyland Paris has announced that Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril will close from January 4, 2027 for several months, with no reopening date.

The parade and the night show, earlier. In January and early February 2026, Stars on Parade set off at 16:30 and lowered the park’s wait by 5 to 8 minutes, as in the rest of the year (we covered it in our parade analysis). Disney Tales of Magic starts at closing time: with a 20:00 or 21:00 closing, that’s when it is.

Park average wait from 10:00 to 18:00, against the weekly average. Regular winter: between 12 and 22 days per day of the week. March-October: every day, about 105 per day of the week.

From March to October, the day of the week barely moves the wait. In winter, a Saturday in Disneyland Park waits 39% more than average and a Tuesday 19% less: 26 minutes against 15. Tuesday and Thursday are still the best, as in our article on days of the week; Wednesday, in winter, does not stand out.

What this means for your day

Take a family or a couple with a weekday in November, January or February and an early closing, at 19:00 or 20:00.

Regular winter. Disneyland Park with a 20:00 closing (41-48 days); Adventure World with a 19:00-20:00 closing (84-88 days). Peter Pan and Dumbo have no last hour: in those winters they stopped running an hour before the park. RC Racer has no readings during Extra Magic Time.

  • Check that day’s closing time, not the “winter” one. This November, between 20:30 and 22:00; on the 17th, 19th and 26th, Disneyland Park at 19:00.
  • Start strong. The peak comes at 11:30. In Disneyland Park, the first hour is the best for almost everything: Peter Pan at 30 minutes against 42 at midday, and Orbitron, Buzz or Dumbo at about 10. With a hotel, even better: Peter Pan at 20.
  • In Adventure World, the last hour still works for some. Spider-Man, RC Racer or Flight Force drop by half at the end. Not Tower of Terror: 38 minutes in the last hour, almost the same as first thing.
  • Fantasyland, before 17:00. The small ones stop at that time, and the rest an hour before the park.
  • Lunchtime hardly matters. In the simulation, eating at 11:30 or at 15:00 changes the queuing by about 10 minutes at most over the whole day. What does make a difference is not stopping at all: one more attraction.
  • If you can choose, Tuesday or Thursday, and avoid Saturday. In winter it is by far the worst day of the week.

A Note from Verónica:

As we have seen in the article, an earlier closing doesn’t mean longer queues, because it also tends to coincide with fewer visitors overall. The most uncomfortable thing in those months, at the end and the start of the day, is the cold, but if you wrap up warm, they are good months to enjoy the parks because they are much quieter. That said, you can’t organise the day and spread out the attractions the same way.

The decision

A winter day with an early closing is not a compressed summer day: it is a day that starts and ends earlier, with shorter queues. Get there at opening and do the big ones first thing: the peak comes at 11:30 and the last hour won’t save you any more. In Disneyland Park, a weekday with a 20:00 closing goes as far as an August day. In Adventure World with a 19:00 closing, not quite: there, Extra Magic Time is worth more than ever. And avoid Saturday.
